Shrewsbury Streetscape Project has been developed by artist and architect James St Clair Wade, who is creating unique images of the town centre’s prettiest locations.

James’ latest finished work is Shoplatch, which includes the Hole in the Wall pub, Samuel Wood estate agents, Adlard & Son tobacconists – which closed recently – and Darwin's Sandwich Evolution. James has drawn in minute detail the historic buildings and their present day shop fronts.

It comes after he recently completed Mardol East, which features the shop fronts of Nerdy Coffee Co, Jessops, Paws Cafe and Pizza Express among others, which are all visible beneath the stunning architecture of the buildings.

James has been working on the project for just over two years.

His wife Katriona said: "Most Streetscape drawings take around 20 hours, this one above took James over 33 hours - the longest yet! The height of the buildings and all that brickwork!

"Rather special to capture Adlards before it closed. If you look closely you can see paper stars which shows it was drawn at Christmas time. A snapshot in time.

"Next panorama will start at Mardol Head and go up Pride Hill."

During his architectural career, James has completed conservation work on some of Shrewsbury’s most famous buildings including the Old Market Hall, St Alkmund’s Church – for which he won two top industry awards for best church restoration – and Trinity Centre Church in Meole Brace.
