A5 reopened after police incident in Shrewsbury
Traffic was gridlocked on the A5 around Shrewsbury this morning due to a police incident and resulting road closure.
The road was closed eastbound from the Edgebold roundabout to Dobbies island, and queues are almost as far back as the Welshpool Road roundabout. It has now reopened.
Police said they were investigating after concerns for a person's safety were raised.
A motorist told the Shropshire Star that they had seen a young person running in the road.
A West Mercia Police spokeswoman said: "We are currently responding to a concern for safety in that location."
