Scott Mills, aged 49, attacked the officer and the woman in Shrewsbury on Sunday, April 17.

Mills, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Kidderminster Magistrates Court to one charge of assault by beating, one of common assault and one of breaching a criminal behaviour order by being drunk in a public place.

He was jailed for 12 weeks on the grounds that his offences were so serious that a period in custody was the only sentence which could be justified.
