Shrewsbury man, 24, cleared of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault

A Shrewsbury man has been found not guilty of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault.

James Bennett, aged 24, of Old Heath, Ditherington, had been charged following an alleged incident in Leegomery, Telford, in October 2021.

A trial was held at Shrewsbury Crown Court from Monday, December 12, and a jury returned its not guilty verdict on Monday, December 19, 2022.

Trial judge Peter Barrie recorded the verdict which was returned by the jury.
