Miss Shropshire, otherwise known as model and pageant queen Eloise Sarasini, will be representing the county at the finals in Blackpool next year and insists she is "proud" of the figure she has worked "very hard" for.

Eloise suffered a "horrible" cancer scare, still has a tumour in her back, and has suffered the debilitating condition fibromyalgia.

She was also bullied for her body after having a growth spurt before other girls at school. Despite those setbacks, she has managed to "grab life with both hands" and is now on the campaign trail gathering support to try to win the Miss England crown.

However, the 25-year-old from Shrewsbury will not get to show off her figure in the traditional bikini parade, which organisers were considering bringing back for the first time since 2009.

Following a poll of contestants, and debates on TV and radio, organisers said the decision had now been made to ditch the round completely, insisting the competition was "no longer a bathing beauty parade" and now "celebrates women achievers", meaning the bikini round "sadly had to go".

Eloise, who sings, dances and teaches among her range of creative exploits, said: "I personally feel slightly disappointed that they got rid of the swimsuit round. I'm very proud of my body and I'm quite happy in a swimsuit. I haven't always had this figure and I've worked very hard to get this figure and maintain it.
