Mother and five-year-old daughter in hit and run scare

A mother and her five-year-old daughter escaped serious injury when a hit-and-run driver collided with the woman as they crossed the road.

The pair were crossing Ryelands Road, in Leominster, at approximately 7.45am on Thursday when a car, believed to be a White Peugeot 204, turned into the road from the Westfield Walk junction.

The vehicle hit the woman who suffered minor injuries. The young girl was uninjured.

The driver, described as a young man, failed to stop and is believed to have headed off in the direction of the Aldi supermarket and town centre.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have been within the area at the time of the incident or who saw the car and the manner in which it was being driven before the collision to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101 quoting incident number 328S of 3 May.
