Two taken to hospital after crash closes road near Claverley

Two people were taken to hospital with serious injuries after being involved in a crash.

The incident involved two vehicles and took place on the B4176, just south of Rudge Heath Island, at Upper Ludstone, near Claverley, at around 1.48pm.

The fire service said that two people had been released from the vehicles after they attended.

Police closed the road as a result of the crash and urged drivers to seek an alternative route.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said two people had been taken to hospital following the incident.

She said: "We were called at 2.17pm to a road traffic collision in Upper Ludstone in Claverley.

"Two ambulances, the Midland Air Ambulance from Cosford and a passing Patient Transport Service crew attended the scene.

"Upon arrival we found two patients, a woman who was the driver of the car and a man who was a passenger.

"Both were assessed by ambulance staff and had sustained serious injuries.

"They received treatment from ambulance staff at the scene.

"The driver was conveyed to New Cross Hospital for further treatment.

"The passenger was conveyed to Russells Hall Hospital for further assessment.”
