Severn Trent carried out the work to lay a water pipe on the A49 in Craven Arms last week from Monday to Friday, under lane closure.

Now Councillor David Evans, for Church Stretton and Craven Arms, has questioned why the work was not carried out overnight.

He said: "It's absolute chaos and I can't understand why they don't do the work during the night.

"The lights were there 24/7 and there was traffic queuing all the way back to Onibury.

"I've said to Severn Trent before to do it at night, there are only two houses nearby and they're not going to be affected that much."

Severn Trent has been approached by the Shropshire Star to comment.
