Ludlow Rotary Club has new president

After an active year, Fiona Jacklin has announced her decision to step down as president of Ludlow Rotary Club.

Taking over will be previous vice president Angus Kerr.

In a speech to fellow rotarians, Mrs Jacklin said: “I’m very proud to have served as president of this important institution.

"Rotary is the largest voluntary service organisation worldwide. The Ludlow branch is particularly active in supporting and complementing local charities, including Megan Baker House, Severn Hospice, Canine partner, PDSA and others.

“Money to support these organisations was raised by Ludlow Rotary from events such as Dog Day and the Pimms stall, for which I want to sincerely thank the townsfolk Ludlow and surrounding towns and villages.”

She said she was happy to leave the club in the capable hands of successor Angus Kerr.

Mr Kerr began his career serving as an Army officer in Northern Ireland, Norway and Hong Kong, before becoming a procurement manager for the oil and gas industry on projects in Africa, and the Far East. More recently he became director of supply for an international helicopter operations company.

Angus first became a Rotarian in Aberdeen.

He said: “Joining Rotary there gave me opportunities to work with the local community, and to make new friends.

"It’s these aspects of fellowship, such as working with and for each other to help groups across the community which appeal to me, and this holds true still in Ludlow Rotary Club. I’m very much looking forward to building on Fiona’s successful period in office.”
