Open to anyone who has been affected cancer, the first meeting will be held from 2pm to 3pm on Wednesday, March 26 at the Cleobury Community Hub, Lower Street, Cleobury Mortimer, Kidderminster.

Tea, coffee, cake and conversation will be offered, and the group plans to meet regularly thereafter on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

It is often difficult to speak to family or friends about cancer for fear of causing them distress and CMCSG will offer a social, safe meeting place where attendees can talk, or not talk, about their illness, and know that their companions will understand.

The Cleobury Mortimer Cancer Support Group is affiliated to the Ludlow Cancer Support Group (LCSG), which will support it initially.

LCSG began in 2014, when a small group of people came together because a friend had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and the nearest support group was in Hereford.

Nearly 11 years later, participants also include people who have lost family members to cancer. LCSG is thriving because its members truly care about each other.
