Teenager suffers 'life-threatening' injuries in Telford motorcycle crash
A teenage motorcyclist has been left with "life-threatening" injuries after crashing into a tree.
The crash happened on Lawley Drive, near to the M54, at about 9.45pm on Tuesday.
The 18-year-old was riding an orange Honda motorbike, which was travelling from the direction of junction 6 of the M54, when it hit the central reservation.
Police officers said the man was thrown from his bike and taken to hospital with injuries they described as life-threatening. No-one else was hurt in the crash.
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.
Murray MacGregor of West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “On arrival ambulance staff found members of the public providing care to the 18-year-old man, who had suffered multiple injuries.
“The man was treated on scene by ambulance staff and the doctor.
"Due to the serious nature of his condition, he was anaesthetised before being taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham; the doctor and critical care paramedic travelled with the ambulance.”
Police are appealing for information about the crash.
