The challenge was launched by Telford & Wrekin Council last week to celebrate the town’s 50th anniversary and allows residents to share their photos.

Each week there will be a specific theme and the photos will eventually form part of a Telford 50 archive to showcase the town in its anniversary year and what makes the borough a great place to live, work or visit.

The theme for week one was Made in Telford – and a gallery of photos was shared on the Telford 50 Facebook group - with residents invited to vote for their favourite snap which has been given the title of ‘photo of the week’.

This week’s joint winners were announced as Steven Sneade and Paul Murray.

Mr Sneade’s photograph shows the power station at Ironbridge Gorge covered in snow, while Mr Murray captured an early morning shot looking out from the Wrekin view point.

Councillor Rae Evans, Telford and Wrekin Council’s cabinet member for customer services, tourism and partnerships, said: “We have received more than 130 photos of high quality in the first week of our Telford 50 photo challenge. It’s themed around Made in Telford.

“This which is a fantastic response, showing that people are really keen to get involved and capture the best of Telford in photos. We will continue the challenge for the rest of the year on a number of different themes and we are hoping for many more entries – to help us build a social gallery featuring people’s contributions, illustrating life in Telford during its 50th year,” Councillor Evans added.
