Taking steps to raise Parkinson's awareness
A Telford group is taking steps to raise awareness of Parkinson's disease by inviting people to join a Walk Through The Park event on April 9.
Parkinson's Awareness Week is marked by the Telford and Wrekin branch of Parkinson's UK and over a number of years walkers from Telford and further afield have followed the bench trail around Little Wenlock to raise awareness, with support from Telford Centre Rotary Club.
However, this year a new route is being adopted, starting at the Ramada Hotel in Telford town centre, and going through Telford town park and then on to the All Nations real ale pub at Madeley.
Walkers meet at 10am for a 10.30am start from the Ramada, arriving at the pub at about 12.30 and having lunch there – walkers buy their own lunch and drinks.
They will then leave at 2pm to return to the Ramada by about 4pm for a talk on Parkinson's and an afternoon tea of finger sandwiches, scone and cake, at a cost of £6 – or with an added pork pie and sausage rolls for an extra £1.50.
