A vehicle has flipped on its side, and both lanes westbound near Junction 6 are blocked.
Two ambulances have been sent to the scene, and there are three police cars in attendance.
Jamie Arrowsmith, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 3.48pm to Junction 6 westbound on the M54.
"We were called to reports of a car on its side."
A spokesman for Highways England said: "For traffic approaching the closure locally, you are advised to expect disruptions with extra journey time and may potentially have to re-route your journey.
"If travelling towards this area from farther afield you may wish to consider an alternative route, allow extra travel time and follow guidance from our on-road variable message signs."
