Driver with badly-worn tyres escapes injury as car overturns on M54

A motorist who was driving with badly worn tyres had a lucky escape when their car overturned on the M54.

The crash happened on the M54 at Telford this afternoon

The driver managed to get themselves out of the car before fire crews arrived on the scene in Telford just after 4.45pm.

Police issued a warning to other motorists after the incident.

OPU Shropshire said: "Please drive carefully during rain fall and make sure you have sufficient tread on your tyres at all times. Luckily no injuries for occupants in this incident."

The car's tyres were badly worn

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "At 4.48pm we received a call reporting that a road traffic collision had taken place.

"Three fire appliances were mobilised from Albrighton and Telford Central. An operations officer was in attendance.

"One vehicle had rolled over and come to rest on the carriageway. Casualty had self-extricated before fire service arrival."
