Third car torched in less than a week in Telford

A car was set alight in Telford in the early hours of the morning.

Fire crews have dealt with three car arsons in five days

Two fire crews were called to the blaze in Chapel Terrace, Wrockwardine Wood, just after midnight today.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said one saloon vehicle was 50 per cent damaged by the blaze.

Crews used two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets to extinguish the flames.

Fire investigators have confirmed it was arson.

The blaze is the third car to be deliberately set alight in Telford in less than a week.

The first was at Briarwood in Brookside, Telford, at around 11.40pm on Thursday, October 28, while the second came the following evening, shortly before midnight at Steventon Road in Wellington.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed both incidents were arson and are now being looked into by police.

Emergency services were also called to a crash in Telford just after 8am today.

A fire crew from Wellington, police and West Midlands Ambulance Service were called to a two vehicle collision in Wombridge Way.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said no one was trapped and firefighters made the scene safe.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "“We were called at 7.50am to reports of a road traffic collision involving two cars at the junction of Hadley Road and Wombridge Way, Oakengates, Telford.

"Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"On arrival, we found three patients.

"The first, a woman, the driver of one of the cars, had sustained injuries not considered to be serious and was conveyed to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further assessment.

"The further two patients, both children, from the first car, had sustained minor injuries and were conveyed to Princess Royal Hospital for further assessment.”
