Three casualties cut free from wreckage of Telford crash

Three casualties were cut free from a wreckage after a three-vehicle crash on a busy A-road.

The collision happened on the A518 at Hortonwood in Telford shortly after 6pm.

A Shropshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "At 6.17pm on Monday, March 27, SFRS Fire Control received a call reporting that a road traffic collision had taken place in Telford, involving three vehicles. Three persons medically trapped and released by fire service personnel using Holmatro (cutting equipment).

"Three fire appliances were mobilised from Telford Central and Wellington. An operations officer was in attendance."

A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC at the junction of the A442 and Hortonwood near Telford at 6.10pm.

"Three ambulances and a paramedic officer were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews discovered two cars had been involved in a collision.

"Ambulance staff treated one female patient for injuries not believed the be serious after assisting with extricating her from the car.

"A male patient, who was already out of the vehicle, was treated for minor injuries. Both were taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further treatment. There were no other patients."
