Teenager in hospital with head injuries after being hit by car in Shifnal

A teenage girl is in hospital with head injuries after being hit by a car in Shifnal.

The 16-year-old was hit by a red Renault Megane near Paton's Garage on Shrewsbury Road shortly after 9am this morning.

She was taken to Princess Royal Hospital where she is also being treated for injuries to her arm.

It is not believed that the injuries are life changing or threatening.

Kieren Bodill, of West Mercia Police, said: “Police were called at around 9am this morning to reports that a pedestrian, a 16-year-old teenage girl, had been involved in a collision with a red Renault Megane.

“She received head injuries that were not believed to be life changing or threatening, she was taken to Princess Royal hospital in Telford as a matter of precaution.

“Enquires are still on-going."

Jamie Arrowsmith of West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We received reports of a collision between a car and pedestrian, one ambulance attended.

"When we arrived the patient, a teenage girl, was treated for arm and head injuries.

"She was taken to Princess Royal Hospital."
