Man cut from car after crash on A5 westbound

A man had to be cut from his car and taken to hospital after crashing into the central reservation on the A5 westbound.

Traffic queues have been forming since the crash at about 2pm, which closed one lane at Junction 7 near Wellington.

Three fire engines were called to the crash and had to cut the roof off the car to free the patient.

Police and paramedics were also sent to the scene.

Jamie Arrowsmith, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We received a call at 2.05pm to the junction of the A5 and the B4394.

"Two ambulances attended, a car has collided with the central reservation.

"One patient has been taken to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. The fire service was required and had to cut the roof off the car.

"There are no obvious or serious injuries as a result of the collision."
