Lea Beven has been running the independent food bank and food share project, supported by the Telford Save It Discount Store in Wellington, since 2019 – before the Covid-19 pandemic struck.

The Food Share Project in Bridge Road includes a food bank that helps 500 struggling people each week, and also a discount store that provides a place for locals to buy budget products.

However, the scheme relies on its three vans, all of which have been off the road, with the food bank unable to afford the repair bills.

Lea said: “We use the vans to pick up chilled and frozen food from all around Shropshire for the food bank and also to sell in the shop that helps fund the food bank.”
