Telford crash: Driver taken to hospital with 'serious injuries' after firefighters cut him free
A seriously injured man was taken to hospital after being cut free following a two-car crash in Telford. Fire, police and a land and air ambulances were scrambled to Haygate Road, Wellington, following the collision at around 12.52pm on Tuesday.
A local resident reported seeing an air ambulance land on Bowring Park in Wellington just after 1pm.
Shropshire Fire & Rescue said the incident involved two vehicles and people were reportedly trapped.
The incident appears to have happened close to the junction of Hollies Road and Haygate Road.
The road was still closed to traffic at around 2pm.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: We were called to reports of a two-car RTC on Haygate Road at 12.40pm.
"Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene. On arrival we discovered a man, the driver of one of the cars, who had to be cut free with help from the fire service.
"He was treated for potentially serious injuries before being taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by land ambulance.
"Two women were assessed and treated for minor injuries before being discharged at the scene."
