Abarth has slashed the price of its 600e Scorpionissima by £2,100 to help owners avoid the Expensive Car Supplement.

Priced from £39,875, the 600e Scorpionissisma now sits below the £40,000 mark.

The Expensive Car Supplement means any vehicle priced over £40,000 will have to pay £410 a year in tax for the first five years of ownership after the vehicle is 12 months old.

Guiseppe Cava, managing director of Fiat and Abarth UK, said: “Recognising that our top-of-the-range Abarth 600e Scorpionissima would have attracted the Expensive Car Supplement coming in April, we’ve made the decision to reduce the price of the car and protect our customers from this tax rise.”

Fiat and Abarth have recently launched their ‘E-Grant’ scheme to allow customers to receive up to £4,220 off the price of their new EVs.

The 600e Scorpionissima comes fitted with a 54kWh battery pack and electric motor that produces 284bhp and 345Nm of torque. It can do 0-60mph in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 124mph. Abarth claims it can travel up to 207 miles between charges.

Prices for the standard Abarth 600e remain the same at £36,975, with both models arriving in the UK from March.
