Local elections: Voters in Shropshire and Mid Wales hit the polls

Voters across Shropshire and Powys are going to the polls today in the council elections.

The elections will decide democratic representatives for the next five years, with councillors elected in 74 Shropshire Council seats.

Polling stations are open until 10pm today, and the votes will be counted from 10am on Friday morning in Shropshire and 8.45am in Powys.

Town and parish council votes will be counted from Saturday morning.

Voters across the West Midlands head to the polls to elect the region’s first Metro Mayor.

At around 6pm tomorrow, history will be made when the West Midlands inaugural Mayor is elected.
