Ludlow Town Council seeks new members
A town council is looking for three new members after a reshuffle in the recent local elections.
Ludlow Town Council is calling for community-minded residents to come forward to sit on the local authority body, to replace members who stood down at the local elections in May. While some new faces were voted in at the elections, there are still vacancies in the wards of Bringewood, Clee View and Rockspring.
Members can now be co-opted into the council without the need for an election.
Newly mayor of Ludlow, Councillor Tim Gill, said: "The town council is an active organisation that makes a real contribution in Ludlow.
"We need to co-opt people who are prepared to make decisions and do real work for the benefit of the town.
"Thanks to its excellent Food Festival, local organisations, creative culture and impressive historic heritage, Ludlow is a town with an enviable national and international reputation.
"The town council is proud to be a part of Ludlow's success. We make sure the core infrastructure such as public toilets support the town’s day to day success.
"We are proud to run Ludlow Market and maintain town centre amenity areas.
"We also work in partnership with other organisations and in 2016 we opened Ludlow Museum at the Buttercross in partnership with Shropshire Council.
"Other town councils across the country are often surprised to learn how small Ludlow is because it has such a huge reputation.
"Towns in Shropshire and across the country are facing significant challenges. Ludlow Town Council does not pretend have all the answers for Ludlow. We will continue to work with organisations that offer constructive ideas and relevant skills.
"Town Councillors know from experience that it takes vision, courage and dedication to be part of a decision making organisation that often attracts the attention of arm chair critics, but we are offering a genuine opportunity to do the right thing and take pride in your town."

The deadline for return of co-option applications is June 16. Applicants will be required to attend a council meeting at The Guildhall, Mill Street, at 7pm on June 29.
