140 homes and shops plan for old Telford school site
The site of a former Telford school and leisure centre could be transformed into a 140-home housing development with its own doctors' surgery and shops according to new plans revealed today.

Madeley Court School was replaced by Madeley Academy in 2009, and the old building was bulldozed.
Outline plans have now been submitted by Telford & Wrekin Council for 140 homes and a play area – the first of three applications which could see the 6.1- hectare site transformed.
The new housing will be split into four main areas: Parkway Frontage, Court Street Frontage, Madeley Court Core and Watercourse Frontage. A range of homes types will be built, including smaller houses and three and four-bedroom properties. Some will be offered as affordable housing.
A cycle route will run through the centre of the estate, connecting to the Sustrans National Cycle Route that runs through south Telford, and the area around a stream at the north of the site will be landscaped as a walking area.
Katherine Lovsey-Barton, from Pegasus Planning Group, which drew up the plans for Telford & Wrekin Council, said the development would provide 'much needed homes and jobs' as well as making 'significant improvements' to sports and recreation facilities.
