Work began on the development of up to 1,100 homes on land between Castle Farm Way and the A5 at Priorslee in 2021. The work has progressed in phases since the project was approved in principle in 2016.
Now Telford & Wrekin Council has received a 'reserved matters' application which includes proposals for a local centre, open space with associated access, car parking and landscaping on the site.
The outline application for the development, originally submitted in 2014 and approved two years later, envisaged a “local centre capable of accommodating a new GP surgery, pharmacy and shops".
The council has confirmed the receipt of a new early-stage application which has been received but not yet validated.
A council spokesperson confirmed that if and when it is made valid, more information will be available on the planning portal.
A spokesperson for Miller Homes confirmed that an application has been lodged with the council.
The council’s planning portal said it has received a reserved matters application "including details for access, appearance, landscaping, layout and scale for a local centre and open space with associated access, car parking and landscaping".
The original planning documents for the East Priorslee development said: “The local centre will bind the new development together providing community and retail facilities adjacent to the proposed school and major highways network.
“It is proposed that 0.5 ha of land will be made available for the local centre. The local centre will provide a community centre and changing rooms to support the adjacent playing fields.
“The community centre will create a multifunctional outlet for groups and clubs, which will include an area capable of supporting a crèche and administrative functions.
“Sited at the centre of land at East Priorslee, the community centre will be instrumental in creating a central hub for the new settlement, which will create a strong identity for the development area.”
The application was not open to public comment at the time of writing.
