Bloor Homes, working in partnership with Taylor Wimpey, have launched the next stage of community consultation on the emerging outline plan for Tasley Garden Village.
As well as the online consultation, there will also be drop-in exhibition events next month, ahead of an outline planning application that will be submitted to Shropshire Council in the spring.
These will be at the following locations:
Wednesday, February 12 (2pm to 7pm): Bridgnorth Rugby Club, Bandon Lane, Bridgnorth, WV15 5AD
Thursday, February 12 (11am to 5pm): St Leonard’s Hall Church, Racecourse Drive, Tasley, WV16 4NR, 11am – 5pm
Feedback will be received up to February 28. The proposal is for a new garden community on the southwestern edge of Bridgnorth, which the developers say has been designed to meet the growth and development needs of the town over the next 15 years.
As well as the homes, the scheme also includes a new two-form entry primary school, and a range of community facilities, all set within extensive landscaped public open space including a new 19.5 hecate country park.
Employment land covering 14.6ha, with uses geared towards commercial space, light industrial and agri-business, is also part of the plans.
Initial preparation work on the site was led by Taylor Wimpey, who worked closely with Shropshire Council to define the parameters for a garden community that would meet Bridgnorth’s future housing and infrastructure needs. Thhe site has subsequently being included as a draft allocation in the emerging Shropshire Local Plan.
Bloor Homes assumed control of the majority of the site in 2023 and the family-owned firm is now leading on the delivery of Tasley Garden Village.
Taylor Wimpey has retained control over a smaller part of the site and continues to work in partnership with Bloor Homes.
Max Whitehead, planning director at Bloor Homes Midlands, said: “We are delighted to be able to provide more detail on our evolving plans for a distinctive, landscape-led community with a bespoke design approach unique to the site. Feedback from local people will help to further shape the plans before we submit an outline planning application in the spring.
“An outline planning application is the first stage in the formal planning process, setting out the broad principles and parameters of development.
“We look forward to hearing from local people on various aspects of the emerging plans, including the illustrative layout, mix of homes and community facilities, employment land, connectivity, open space proposals and sports pitches.”
Stephen Swinscoe, strategic land regional director at Taylor Wimpey, added: “We are very pleased to be presenting the illustrative outline masterplan for Tasley Garden Village which has been produced in partnership with Bloor Homes.
“While we are at an early stage in the outline planning process, this gives an indication of how the development might look, with an emphasis on extensive green infrastructure, the preservation of landscape features and the provision of high-quality community facilities. We look forward to hearing the views of the local community through this next phase of consultation as we continue to refine our proposals.”
