Dimensions Care wants the change of use to happen at a property in Cabin Lane. There is parking space for up to five vehicles, with ‘a decent rear garden’ and ‘a generous, hard surfaced and grassed, front garden’.
Wayne Price, managing director of the care firm, said the building will be occupied by three vulnerable people aged between four and 17, and three live-in members of staff. There will also be another member of staff who will help provide 24-hour support, while working a 9-5 role.
This, he said, is in strict compliance with Ofsted’s required operating guidelines.
“The children, who have been placed in care for a number of reasons, will attend local schools and colleges and the house will be run as a family home,” said Mr Price.

“The provision of familial, supportive, accommodation will help these young children and teenagers grow up to become independent, well-informed and ambitious young people. Dimension Care also provide additional specialist support, if required.
“Overall, the principle of changing the useofthe property from a dwelling house into a children’s care home is in line with the council’s growth and inclusive community agenda; and the delivery of this scheme would be consistent with the broad aims of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and its presumption in favour of sustainable development.”
Mr Price added that any any additional disturbance would be very modest and would come from the staff (and any visitors) entering and leaving the car park at the front of the site.
“However, this is expected to be limited because of the nature of the proposed development (the building operating a family type of children’s care home),” said Mr Price.
“It is considered that there will be no unacceptable impact on the privacy and amenity of neighbouring residents and therefore the proposed dwelling complies with the local plan.”
