Kier, working on behalf of Highways England, have sent a letter to residents affected by the impending work, which will take place between the A449 Gailey Roundabout and the M54's junction two from January 3 to June 30.

Work will take place between 8pm and 6am on weekdays and weekends, with access to businesses and residential properties maintained at all times.

Restrictions will see separate northbound and southbound carriageway closures between A5 Gailey roundabout and Brewood Road roundabout for approximately 30 nights and 24-hour separate northbound and southbound closures on the same stretch for approximately four consecutive weekends.

The carriageway will be renewed using a new anti-skid surfacing, road markings, road studs and traffic counting loops reinstated and the drainage repaired where required.

Highways England will also realign the kerbs and widen the central reservation to the north of the A449/ School Lane/ Old Stafford Road Junction for a length of about 200 metres to install a new safety barrier.

The existing footway crossing point some 200m north of Brewood Road Roundabout will be reconfigured to provide a staggered layout in the central reserve.

The scheme will improve the road surface, driver safety and the safety of pedestrians, with the improved drainage work preventing flooding.
