He has been airlifted to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital by the Midlands Air Ambulance helicopter from Cosford.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said they received reports at around 2.15pm.
An ambulance and a paramedic area support officer was also at the scene.
Drivers were urged to avoid the route due to long delays and the road was reopened and clear by 4.50pm.
