Long A5 and M54 delays after rush-hour crash
There were long delays on one of Shropshire's busiest roads this morning after a rush-hour crash.
Three cars were involved in the smash, which happened on the westbound side of the A5 between Telford and Shrewsbury at around 8.45am and caused traffic to back up along the M54.
Many drivers were stuck behind the incident for more than 40 minutes.
Firefighters, police and ambulance crews were all at the scene between the end of the M54 at Junction 7 and Preston Island, where the A5 meets the A49.
No one was trapped in the cars and one person was assessed at the scene by paramedics for back pain.
Jamie Arrowsmith, of West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "The crash was two miles west of Junction 7, near to where the M54 meets the A5.
"Three cars were involved in the crash, and four people were in the vehicles.
"We assessed one patient, a man in his 20s, who was discharged at the scene.
"He was not trapped in the vehicle and had managed to get out of the car. He had minor back pain.
"We sent one ambulance and a paramedic support officer to the scene."
Meanwhile rail passengers were facing major disruption across the county due to Arriva Trains Wales pulling services for urgent safety checks.
