Young woman seriously injured in 'multi-vehicle' M6 crash leading to huge queues
The M6 Southbound was closed between between Junction 14 for Stafford and Junction 13 after an accident in which a young woman suffered serious injuries.
Live Traffic -M6 tweeted at lunchtime on Thursday that the carriageway was closed.
A young woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries after the 'multi-vehicle' crash at around 10.45am which led to traffic being held.
Queues were reported as seven miles long at midday but by 4pm two lanes had been opened and delays were said to be easing but with average speed recorded as 20mph.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of a multi-vehicle RTC on the southbound M6, between junctions 14 and 13 at 10.44am, one ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene. On arrival we discovered one patient, a teenage female, who was treated for serious injuries before being taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital."
