A5 reopens after multi-vehicle collision that saw woman cut free from car

The A5 west of Shrewsbury was closed in both directions following a collision involving three vehicles.

Emergency services were called to the A5 near the Felton Butler Roundabout in Nesscliffe near Shrewsbury just after 1.30pm on Wednesday.

Police, firefighters and the ambulance service attended the incident, which involved three vehicles.

Shropshire Fire and Rescue reported that one person, a woman, had to be cut free from a vehicle by firefighters, and that she had been left in the care of the ambulance service.

At around 3.30pm, police confirmed that the road had reopened, but was down to just one lane and that no arrests had been made.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called to reports of an RTC on the A5 in Nesscliffe, Shrewsbury at 1.14pm today (October 23).

"One ambulance attended the scene and provided treatment to the occupant of one car, a woman, who sustained injuries not thought to be life-threatening. She was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital for further checks."
