Letter - Shock at hospital shortages
Recently we were rushed into the Princess Royal A&E. We knew that we may have to wait many hours as the department is under pressure, but with a potentially serious illness they dealt with our problem with professionalism and care.
The staff could not have done enough. We were sent to the AMU unit through the middle of the night and we hoped the problem would be resolved.
We were shocked to see a room shared by several patients with many complex illnesses which was cold due to windows being left open to keep some patients with a high temperature cool.
Those who were cold had a blanket, when we asked for another blanket we were told they had none. Better still, they could only supply one pillow.
What is going on? How is the money allocated in our NHS, as the basic requirements cannot be found.
The staff informed us this is normal and sadly a reflection of the NHS cuts; they could not be more apologetic and said more is to come.
No wonder the morale of staff and the public are being noticed.
It's just sad that those at the top have no idea how to protect front line services any more.
