Letter: Pleased disabled boy starring in M&S advert
It is disgraceful that people with disabilities are rarely included in advertising. For example: Seb, the four-year-old boy with Down's Syndrome, who will be featured in the new Marks & Spencer Christmas ad (Shropshire Star, November 6).
This particular advert will be the first television ad in the UK from a major high street brand to feature a model with a learning disability.
The only reason he is included is because a petition was formed on Facebook. I find it appalling that more children with disabilities aren't included.
Rather than constantly presenting people who are slim and look beautiful, people with disabilities, weight issues or skin that isn't perfect should also be included.
We talk about equality in the future, but how will we get any further if we can't even show children as equal?
