Letter: Axed Ludlow Festival got cheap
That Ludlow could lose its Shakespearian festival is indeed a tragedy, but I don't believe it's all down to the weather.

Many other Midland towns have copied the Ludlow recipe but while Ludlow has, in recent years gone for money-saving recipes with actors most of us have never heard of and fringe events with little known entertainers, other towns have gone for the big names and reaped the rewards and the audiences.
There is a lesson to be learned if Ludlow Festival is to be reprieved. First, we must all get behind it and support it locally. Secondly, cheap and cheerful isn't the way to go.
