Letter: Jail would have meant jobs
It is no secret that Telford has long suffered from a shortage of jobs.

So when Associated British Foods made their decision to close Allscott Sugar Factory with more job losses I was an immediate advocate of a plan to use the site for a badly-needed modern prison.
This suggestion was made by me to the Conservative administration of the day but nothing ever transpired until the latest proposals to build more homes on the site.
The prison was going to produce 2,500 real jobs and untold prosperity to the area.
With the decision to not build a new council office now, it is no wonder that Telford has so many problems and few jobs.
When are we going to get councillors with real vision?
