Letter: Plea over housing situation

I have recently been seeking advice on my homeless situation and banding for housing needs.

It would seem that Telford & Wrekin council only deem my position as homeless without statutory duty (no explanation provided), and on the basis of this, Wrekin housing trust band me as 'needing'.

Can someone please explain to me how, people already in accommodation (and I appreciate that their current housing may not be appropriate for their needs, but they still have a roof over their heads), can be banded as urgent where as I, who have no home, is classed as less of a priority to house?

I am a 44-year-old male who (suffering from some mental health issues, although mild) is homeless due to a marriage breakdown.

I have two children that I am supposed to have stay with me on a regular basis. Being homeless this is impossible and they will have to wait on average two years and nine months before they have the opportunity to stop with me again, based on the average waiting times for the needing band.

I have requested information on banding policies, human rights obligations and the number of non-English born immigrants that are currently in social housing to which, the answers to these questions have not been provided.

I have a simple need to be housed, so that I can once again have my children stop with me as I am an extremely important part of their lives, have the stability to get back into work, and hopefully get my life back on track, is this to much to ask?

Or at the very least, have an explanation of why this is being made virtually impossible for me.
