Letter: Move is a cut too far
I note that Telford & Wrekin Council is consulting on plans to cut the whole of its enablement service.

This would mean the loss of 28 jobs and the involvement of the private sector in a sphere of activity concerned with vulnerable people. Once more dedicated people and the people they support are likely to suffer.
People First Party suggested that a referendum be held to ask the electorate of Telford & Wrekin if they wished to pay more local tax in order to avoid at least some of these cuts. Of course the the Labour run council could not agree to this. After all it would annoy their Coalition masters in Whitehall.
The electorate should remember this when they are next asked to vote in council elections.
