Letter: Our NHS is the best medicine

All too often we hear bad reports about the National Health Service. Well, here is a good story.

My granddaughter was poorly early on Sunday morning. My daughter rang Shropdoc and was given an appointment at the Princess Royal, in Telford, for 6.20am.

She set out to take her when she received a call to say the duty doctor had finished her final appointment and as her home address was en route to the hospital it would be quicker for the doctor to visit at home.

She had only driven a short distance and returned home.

Within 15 minutes the doctor arrived. She was very reassuring and quickly diagnosed the problem. She gave good advice and even mixed up the medicine for my granddaughter. We need to preserve our precious National Health Service at all costs.
