Letter: Quality is a thing of past in Britian

We have all heard the expression "rip-off Britain" and it's true, more than ever.

Goods, including cars, TVs and washing machines are designed to fail after a comparatively short time so you are forced to buy replacements.

Firms employ clever people to engineer "built in obsolescence" to ensure everything is worthless after a while in this throw-away society where sales are more important than quality.

Quality is a long distant memory now that most of our manufacturing industry is gone and we are forced to accept foreign rubbish.
