Letter: MPs scarce in summer

Where do we find an MP in the summer?

Published

A ten per cent pay rise for MPs, I don't think so. What a disgrace.

No talk about how many days off they enjoy while the Commons is in its many recesses. They will be off on their holidays shortly, not to return until September.

No other profession has so much paid time off. They say it gives them time to meet constituents. Hands up anyone who has seen their MP during summer recess?

They will be off again from September 17 to October 12, and again in November for a few days.

They receive a pension others can only dream of, and if the voters give them the boot they receive a few thousand to tide them over until they find a proper job.

Nice work if you can get it.
