Letter: MPs enjoying life in Westminster bubble

It's a good life being a Member of Parliament. It's a decent job with good pay and you get almost 11 weeks summer holidays and more weeks through the years.

They did very well this year, MPs got a big rise, a 10 percent wage boost after the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority ruled one of adjustment will restore MPs pay to an appropriate level.

This lottery win comes at a time a Conservative Government will cut £12 billion and more on social security.

Then there's other working conditions; rent is subsidised, travelling allowances and oh yes, you can get a four-course meal for a few quid. Working class MPs can go to any of Parliament's bars and get a pint of beer for a subsidised price.

The downfall of the job is when the five years are up you have to apply again, and if you can con the voters again, especially the over 60s.

Research shows 47 per cent of OAPs voted Tory, 23 per cent Labour many in their 60s switched to the Tories after they promised a triple-lock on pensions and ruled out means testing perks.

But never mind, if you do not get re-elected you can go round charging £35,000 for after dinner speeches.
