Letter: Shropdoc must stay
Just had to say, if Shropdoc loses its contract and it goes to a private company, thinking money will be saved like all private companies that try and do what the true professionals have been doing so well for years, it will not be able to offer such a golden service, so therefore, more people will be going to already overloaded A&E and departments.
Also, with Shropshire being such a rural area, how will a call centre, goodness knows how far away, know where we live?
For example, at this present time, without more calls to deal with, its staff cannot answer the phone for a very long time and then you are only speaking to a person with no medical knowledge just ticking boxes on a computer. So when they say you are talking to a trained person, it means trained how to click a mouse on a computer.
Remember the swine flu outbreak? These were the same trained people who got things wrong time after time.
So yes it will really save money won't it? More of us using 999 and more of us going to A&E.
