Letter: Cameron went back on his word after vote
When David Cameron announced that he intended to hold an in out referendum on the EU on June 23, he said quite clearly at the same time that he would remain Prime Minister even if he loses the vote. He said that he would make an EU exit work for the British people if they rejected EU membership.
Two hours after the results are announced what does he do; he stands in front of the world's media and goes back on his word, knowing full well that his announcement would cause chaos, not only to his party by causing a leadership fight but most importantly delaying the party's formation of an EU exiting team and strategy.
Not only has he caused chaos to his party he has divided the country even more because of his weak leadership. When people were waiting for a positive reaction about our future all we got were weak spineless politicians running for cover and blaming the Leave campaign for using their democratic vote for change in this country.
Mr Cameron, why could you not have put your country first and remained as PM? And show strong leadership in a time of crisis, instead of having the classic Hollywood exit resigning on camera and walking into No.10 hand-in-hand with your wife.
Perhaps MPs should show more respect for the people of Great Britain and get on with the job they are paid for.
