Letter: Action call over A&E closure
Regarding the closure of Telford's Princess Royal A&E Department. Isn't it about time all the mayors and county councillors made a statement in support of the accident and emergency department being kept open in Telford for the people of Bridgnorth and the surrounding area.
Lives will definitely be lost with the much longer journey to the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and with the delay in ambulance journeys/waiting times it could be well over an hour or even two before arrival at and A&E department in Shrewsbury.
We need our mayors, county councillors and local councillors to project our interest in the PRH and this along with our MPs (and our MP in now in the health department for the Government).
A journey to the PRH, Telford takes over half an hour with blue lights from Bridgnorth then plus the waiting if no ambulance available, which could still be over an hour from Bridgnorth to Telford A & E – so you can understand why lives will be lost from this area.
Let's get some help on this matter please – come on people let's get going – you never know when you will need help at A & E – and I remember when they wanted to close our local hospital – and this I understand is again to be downgraded.
John Dixon, Bridgnorth
