Letter: Age limit of 18 for voting is right time
In response to Sophia Bureau's letter, (Star, December 8), she claims to be 15-years-of-age, which means she was excluded from the referendum vote, and, that there should be an upper age limit to our present voting system of 70.
She seems to be quite a mature young lady, judging by the comment that she made and even though one of my great uncles was only 15 himself and lied about his age so he could join the army to take part in the First World War his life was lost in the trenches in 1917.
So, to make my point, there are many other things in life which are far more important than if you are old enough to vote in an election and I believe 18-years-of- age is about the right time of life to make your mark on what you want from your life, but I don't think Sophia that you should start complaining about the situation when you are not old enough to vote yourself.
I also believe you are wrong to have a go at the older people who have fought in two world wars so we can have freedom of speech. If you want to blame anyone for the referendum result blame all the apathetic losers who never turned out to vote.
