Letter: The EU needs us more

If we only had a "Churchillian" figure in power again!

Published

There would be no messing about trying to undo the treaties.

The keys to the EU would have been posted back, long ago, through the Brussels/Stuttgart office door.

The £50million daily payments would have been stopped on June 24 by the bank and the advice given to the EU is that you sort out your own mess.

We henceforth would continue trading with the whole world which if you look at the place of manufacture on the goods you purchase, would already seem to be the case.

The EU can continue to send us in the UK all their cars as our roads would seem fairly empty without them, that is as good a reason as any why we need not be beholding to the EU.

They have always needed us more than we needed them.

The sad thing is that it has taken so long to realise that we were giving much more than we received from them.

For any Remainers still to be convinced, please read Jill Seymour MEP's comment on page five of the Star, January 17.
