Reduced items row turns violent at Shrewsbury supermarket
I wish to thank the gallant gentleman who acted with kindness and courtesy but suffered because of his action.
On December 20 in the evening I entered a supermarket in Shrewsbury and at the entrance went to look at the reduced items.
Good humouredly, another lady and I exchanged comments that the top shelves were not made for short people like ourselves as I went on tip toes and picked up a small packet of biscuits.
A tall man on the other side of the trolley had seen the packet and snatched them out of my hand, at which a gentleman standing near me shouted to this tall fellow to give back the packet to me as it had been in my hand.
I said that it didn’t matter.
Then in a very nasty manner the man who had snatched the packet off me forcibly head-butted the guy who had spoken in my defence, sending him flying backwards on the floor causing him to bang his head.
People began shouting to the offender to get out of the store and there was some disturbance which was all very unpleasant and not what one expects to encounter shopping in the evening with families around.
This kind man must have been hurt by the brutish lout and I want him to know that myself and many others who witnessed and were shocked at this unwarranted attack, regard him as a hero.
We thank him most sincerely!
With thanks
