NHS pay rise is a sweetener

Would I be just a silly old cynic to think that Jeremy Hunt’s about-turn on blocking NHS pay was not so much a recognition of their commitment and value to our national wellbeing (which the rest of us knew years ago) but rather a cunning sweetener in time for the May elections?

It is just that, over the last six years since he became Secretary of State for Health and Social Care (although it does seem so much longer than that), when he has made many declarations on “improvements”, which then were found to be less than claimed, I am now wary of accepting initial expectations until proven yay or nay.

For the sake of our wonderful health professionals, of all ranks, I do hope that some good will come of it, even though it has already been proved to be a pay cut in real terms. Still, since when has J the Hunt been aware of reality? As to the May elections, there is always the hope that a dose of reality might be applied then.
